It began on the island

While driving around the island, I often found myself drawn to the donkeys that moved freely through the landscape. There was something about them — quiet, present, unbothered — that stayed with me.

Many people noticed them. I knew I had to paint them — in oil, on canvas.

What started as a painting became something more.

The donkey is often misunderstood. People use the word to describe stubbornness. But in reality, the donkey is thoughtful, resilient, and deeply aware. It does not move out of force — it moves with intention.

That is where the meaning began.

Through OUBO, this form is reinterpreted — not just as an image, but as an object. A symbol of quiet strength, humility, and endurance.

Each piece carries that story forward.

“I was always fascinated by the donkey — humble, yet incredibly strong.”
— Esmeralda Kelly

Through jewelry, the symbol becomes more intimate — an object to carry, to wear, to live with.

“I was always fascinated by the donkey — humble, yet incredibly strong.”

What began on canvas evolves into form.
A dialogue between art and object — between expression and presence.
